Uninor Enters Guinness Book of World Records.

For having the largest retail expansion in the country within a day ever, Uninor Mobile Phone Service Company has entered the Guinness Book of World Records. It has opened around 360 outlets in just one day. For making this world record, Uninor utilized 200 employees to satisfy over 150,000 subscribers in 6 telecom circles executed for over 5400 hours. Today, the company has 1100 stores which are successfully running. By introducing such stores, the company had its 1480 stores and their overall footprint to make it 2nd largest telecom operator in the 6 operating circles. 


In the month of April 2014, the company has started its retail expansion. It had mentioned in the statement of the company in February along with a huge investment worth Rs. 500 Cr. for distribution infrastructure and network expansion by 30% in the running telecom circles.  The company also started plans to re-deploy around 5000 sites from inactive circles and to expand its geographical region in current circles in the statement. Later on, Telenor, its maternal company, has also got approval of FIPB to expand the stake to 100% in Uninor for extra Rs. 780 Cr. of investment. Uninor is the brainchild of Telenor and an Indian telecom operator which is enhancing its network coverage. 

Currently, the company has over 4.5 million customers in Andhra Pradesh circle. Now it is going to enhance the concentration of service stations by 30% within three months to come. In order to have total 3500 stations, it will install 550 new ones. In Vijayawada, it is going to boost coverage in the southern state. Currently, the company has 6 operational circles out of total 22 ones in India. Earlier this year, it has got successful bid on additional 4 circles of 1800 MHz, including Bihar/Jharkhand, Andhra Pradesh, UP East and UP West. On these extra spectrums, the company invested around $136 million. But it has enhanced its data services and voice quality by 25% in such areas. Currently Uninor also offering several easy mobile recharges offers to its online customers.
